Therapy for Teens in Colorado
Because being a teenager shouldn’t feel this hard, and no one should have to figure it out alone.
When teens are anxious, shut down, emotionally reactive, or just not themselves, therapy can help, but not just any therapy.
This isn’t traditional talk therapy where we just talk about feelings and hope something shifts. I use a neuroscience-informed, skills-based approach that helps teens feel better and function better, faster. We work on calming the nervous system, shifting patterns, and building emotional strength they can carry into every part of life.
But here’s what truly makes the biggest difference: I don’t just work with teens, I support parents too. Because when teens are struggling, lasting change often starts with the system around them. Parents: your ability to regulate your nervous system is the #1 way you can support your teen. (Read why here.)
If your teen is overwhelmed and you’re not sure what to do next, you're in the right place.
What You Might Be Seeing
Your teen isn’t lazy, broken, or unmotivated. They’re overwhelmed. And under-supported.
You may have noticed:
Maybe they just don’t seem like themselves anymore. Maybe you’re tired of walking on eggshells, and nothing you try seems to help.

You’re not imagining things, and you’re not alone.
This doesn’t have to be your new normal.
Why Teen Therapy Matters (and What Makes This Approach Different)
Let’s be honest, traditional talk therapy doesn’t always cut it for teens. Sitting on a couch rehashing problems once a week might feel safe, but it doesn’t always lead to change.
At Steady Within, I take a different approach.
This isn’t about years of talk. It’s about giving your teen tools that actually help them feel and function better, fast. My work blends neuroscience-informed, trauma-aware therapy with real-life skills your teen can use the moment they leave the session.
When emotions run high, your teen will know how to calm their body, manage their thoughts, and respond with more clarity and control.
My Approach to Teen Therapy
I adore teens.
As a mom to six kids (five of them teenagers) former educator, and now licensed therapist, I’ve built my life around supporting this age group.
But more importantly, your teen will feel that I see them. I don’t talk down to them. I don’t sugarcoat things, but I am on their team. And they'll know it.
This isn’t traditional talk therapy. My approach blends the depth of therapy with the practical tools of coaching. Then I add in humor, realness, and evidence-based practices like DBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care. I use what works, conversation, creative work, even Minecraft as a therapy tool.
Each session is customized for your teen’s personality, development, and emotional needs, so they get what actually works, not a one-size-fits-all checklist.

Who I Work With
I offer therapy for teens who are:
Struggling with anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm
Dealing with school stress, burnout, or avoidance
Experiencing self-harm or suicidal thoughts
Neurodivergent or navigating identity (including LGBTQIA+)
Preparing for post-high school life and feeling stuck, scared, or unmotivated
Big emotions and big questions deserve more than traditional talk therapy. I help teens build real skills, and the confidence, to navigate both.
A Note for Parents
I involve parents in a way that builds trust and supports your teen’s progress (without turning therapy into a reporting system). If your teen consents, we may collaborate on tools or updates they’re open to sharing.
✨ I also offer a self-paced courses for parents (parents of clients receive free access), see my most recent one here:
✨ And if you really want to help your teen? Therapy for parents often has the most lasting impact.
